Assign an operator

A Super Admin can assign an operator to a site from the Alarm Center, routing that site’s alarms to the operator’s queue. Operators can also self-assign from their own Alarm Center during a shift.

Before you begin

  • The operator must already be invited and have an active account. See Invite an operator.
  • The operator must have started their shift. Sites cannot be assigned to an operator who has not started a shift.
  • The site must appear in Sites with Unattended Open Alarms — meaning it has open alarms and no operator currently assigned to it.

Assign from the Admin Dashboard (Super Admin)

  1. Open the Alarm Center from the left sidebar.
  2. In the Sites with Unattended Open Alarms table, find the site you want to assign.
  3. In the Assigned to column, use the dropdown on that site row to select the operator.
  4. The site moves to the Sites with Assigned Operators table with lock status Queued, and a card appears in the operator’s QUEUED SITES ASSIGNED TO YOU panel. The operator must click Monitor now on that card to begin monitoring the site in ZenMode.

No operators available? If the Assigned to dropdown shows No actively monitoring operators, the operator must start their shift before they can be assigned — ask them to log in and click Start Shift in Alarm Center. Inactive operators (orange dot) appear in the dropdown but cannot be selected; hovering shows “You can’t assign inactive operators to the site.” To add a new operator to the system, see Invite an operator.

To unassign an operator from a site: In the Sites with Assigned Operators table, click the red unassign button on the site row. The site returns to Sites with Unattended Open Alarms.

Self-assign from the Operator Dashboard (Operator)

  1. Start your shift by clicking Start Shift on your Operator Dashboard.
  2. In the Sites with Unattended Open Alarms table, find a site with an Available lock status.
  3. Click the eye icon (tooltip: View ZenMode) on that site row to open ZenMode for that site.
  4. Inside ZenMode, click Assign To Me to lock the site to yourself. The site appears in your PICKED SITE panel with lock status In Progress, and the Close all alarms button becomes available in the toolbar.

To unassign yourself from a site: Either click Unassign in ZenMode, or click the Unassign site icon on the site card in your PICKED SITE panel. A “Site successfully unassigned” banner confirms the release. The site returns to the unattended queue.

What the operator sees after assignment

  • If the site was assigned by an Admin, it first appears as a card in QUEUED SITES ASSIGNED TO YOU with status Queued. The card has three action buttons: Monitor now (opens the site in ZenMode), Unassign, and the eye icon (view). Click Monitor now to move the site to your PICKED SITE panel.
  • Once monitoring begins, the site appears in PICKED SITE with status In Progress and an alarm count.
  • Two action icons are available on each picked site: the eye icon (re-enters ZenMode to continue processing alarms) and the Unassign site icon (releases the site back to the unattended queue with Available status).

Note on shift-based pre-assignment

When an operator is invited and assigned to a shift, all sites linked to that shift appear automatically in the operator’s QUEUED SITES queue at the start of each shift — no manual assignment needed. Manual assignment (as described above) is used for ad-hoc coverage outside the standard shift routing.
